the street from the school was a pickup truck with the body of some
guy who ran around the check point. No clue why he did it and those
Marines don’t have time to wonder about it either. I watched his
family carry off his body the next day. I couldn’t imagine having
to do that, to carry off a family member or friend riddled w/ bullet
holes. About 2 blocks down on the same street two other guys blew the
checkpoint. They to were obliterated by gunfire. I believe the Iraqi
National Guard took those bodies and we flipped the car over for use
as a barrier. Confusion in the only word for it. I am now beginning
to understand how those in Vietnam felt fighting the Viet Cong, the
enemy becomes everyone...
